The Foxford Fishery offers excellent salmon angling throughout the season:

The consistent Spring season usually kicks off in April and traditionally peaks in May, but there are often significant numbers of salmon running from early March and we often have rod availability from this period onwards. Spring fish average around 9lbs and fish over 20lbs have been taken in recent seasons. Springers fall most to bait or spinners and an increasing number are falling to the sunk fly.

The grilse arrive in late May and given suitable water conditions, June, July and August can provide sensational sport with large bags of fresh fish possible. In summer fly fishing becomes most productive, with bait and spin fishing excelling during summer spates.

In August and September the pools are full of resident fish and depending on conditions, fresh fish will arrive from the tidal stretches. In particular, the first flood after low summer levels will provide great sport. Towards the end of the season, larger Summer Salmon will feature in the catches. Given good water conditions, this back-end fishing can be some of the best of the season.
